Easter Weekend

So a friend of Karen's offered to design her flower bed. All we had to do was clean it out of all the weeds and grossness that had been growing in there for years.

It wasn't so bad.

Garret wanted everyone to know how hard he worked. He did work really hard, even harder than Cam, he said. =)

Sadie was carrying around her pink Easter egg. It was glittery.

Bruno and myself cuddling for a picture.

Nixon came and joined us after a while, it was really hard keeping Bruno still.

Bruno, Cam, and Sadie. Bruno had scared Sadie earlier, so she was a little apprehensive about coming around him again.

Then Cam, Bruno, and myself went to Manito afterwards. This of course, was a mistake...a huge one! It didn't take long for all of us to get completely exhausted.

Bruno was REALLY tired afterwards!

Just some recipes...

Nothing says nostalgia like piggies in blankets. My mom always made these and even though I'm not a huge fan of hot dogs anymore (they were kosher), it still tasted good for old times sake.

Our go-to dinner is probably tacos. They're alright and a great idea for a quick dinner, but I wasn't digging ground hamburger..so I fried up some chicken the way my mom used to do it, and then put it through the Ninja to make it super fine. Cam likes his tacos with just meat, cheese, and lettuce, but I at least have to have my avocados and tomatoes to make it complete. MMMM now I want avocados.

Yokes on Argonne is my favorite store. I highly recommend it for fresh produce, meat, and seafood. What's also great about it, other than having the yummiest, freshest food, is that they always have great deals and cheap prices. At Safeway (curse and spit), a beef roast is generally anywhere between $12 - $20..The cheaper it is, the sadder it is.  At Yokes, you can get an amazing roast for $6-$9. I always like to go to their seafood department and see what deals they have going on. They had a great deal on shark steaks, which Cam and I have never had - So we decided to give it a try.

Looks yummy right? WRONG! Not for my lack of cooking skills, but neither of us enjoyed the taste of shark...Bruno did though.

I've never been the greatest at baking, which Cam can attest to, but I thought I'd have another whack at baking a cake (as the last attempt didn't go so well). I decided to make a Victorian Sponge cake with buttercream frosting and raspberry filling. I think from now on, I should leave the baking to my sister Stephanie, as she's the real pro. The actual cake was really good. The buttercream frosting however, left a lot to be desired. And as for my actual cake frosting skills, well...I'll let you be the judge.

My signature dish that I am most good at would have to be my Buttermilk Southern Fried Chicken. I have secrets, LOL! Nothing makes me feel better like fried chicken and a baked potato.
